You personal guide to Canadian real estate
How much commission does a realtor when he/she sells your home? Note: Info for Canada?

I can’t seem to get straight info on this question from Google. Help please!

I hire a realtor from one of the major agencies (like remax), he/she sells my house for $400,000. How much does he/she get?

Is there a cap (like I hear that 1% Realty charges $5600 or so)?

I am in BC, Canada.

Commissions are negotiable, however, you will hinder the sale of your house if you try to negotiate too low. Why? In most cases there are two offices involved in a sale; listing and selling. If the commission offered to a selling office is too low, the house won’t get shown. Suggest to the listing office that you will pay X% if the home is sold in house (their offer) and Y% if sold by another office.
